The Journey From Broken to Bold by Grace
“My grace is always more than enough for you, and My power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I am weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.

As we conclude our study of Psalm 40:1-3, a beautiful picture begins to emerge. David waited on the Lord, cried out to Him, was lifted from the pit, placed upon a rock, given a new song, and became a testimony that helped others trust in God. The entire story points to a powerful truth: God specializes in taking the areas of life that seem most damaged and transforming them into something that brings Him glory.
The truth found in David’s story is not limited to his experience alone. It is woven throughout Scripture and continues in the lives of believers today. The same God who lifted David from the pit still restores hurting hearts, brings healing where it is needed most, and transforms lives through His grace.
In many ways, this is the heart behind Bold by Grace. Psalm 40 shows us that God does not leave people where He finds them. He meets them in their struggles, walks with them through difficult seasons, restores what has been damaged, and transforms their lives into living examples of His faithfulness. The movement from the pit to the rock, from waiting to restoration, and from despair to a new song is ultimately a story of grace.
Another powerful truth emerges in 2 Corinthians 12:9. The same grace that lifted David from the pit is the grace that sustains us when we reach the limits of our own ability.
Far too often, painful experiences are hidden behind carefully constructed walls. Pain is buried, scars are covered, and burdens are carried in silence while everything on the outside appears fine. The world teaches us to hide our struggles, push through hardship, and appear self-sufficient even when we feel exhausted inside. Scripture paints a very different picture. Throughout the Bible, God repeatedly works through imperfect, wounded, and flawed lives. He does not wait until someone has everything together before He begins using their life for His glory.
Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 12:9 reveal a perspective that completely changes the way we view our limitations. When he writes, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness,” we are reminded that our struggles are not the end of the story. Often, those very struggles become the place where God’s grace shines most clearly.
The world often defines boldness as confidence, fearlessness, and the sense that everything is under control. Biblical boldness is very different. True boldness is not built on personal ability. It grows through dependence on God. It comes from knowing that even in failure, grief, disappointment, uncertainty, or seasons of waiting, God remains faithful.
Grace is at the very heart of Bold by Grace. No amount of determination, willpower, or human effort can heal a wounded heart the way God can. Healing, restoration, and transformation become possible when His grace begins working in the places we cannot fix on our own. As God works within us, old wounds begin to heal, hope starts to return, and lives that once felt shattered begin to take on new purpose.
From Genesis to Revelation, this pattern continually appears. Moses felt inadequate. David knew failure and grief. Elijah battled discouragement and exhaustion. Peter carried the weight of denial. Paul pleaded with God concerning his limitations. Yet God still used each of them powerfully. Their effectiveness did not come from pretending they had everything together. It came from learning to rely on God in the middle of their struggles.
Difficult seasons have a way of stripping away self-reliance. They expose the places where human effort runs out. As painful as that can be, it is often where deeper dependence on God begins to grow. Some of the most powerful testimonies begin in places no one would have chosen for themselves. Looking back, however, it often becomes clear that God was working all along, even when His hand could not yet be seen.
God does not delight in pain or brokenness, yet He is able to redeem even the most difficult seasons of our lives. He brings beauty from ashes, healing from places of deep hurt, and purpose from circumstances that once seemed ruined beyond repair.
Some of the strongest encouragement comes from those who have experienced deep hardship themselves. Pain has given them a deeper compassion for others and a greater dependence on God. Their story carries weight because it was forged through real struggles and sustained by God’s grace.

We are bold because God’s grace carries us through every difficult season, every setback, and every moment when we realize we cannot do it on our own. His grace becomes the foundation that keeps us steady when life feels uncertain.
Although every testimony is unique, each one points back to the same truth: God is faithful. He still restores lives. He still heals hurting hearts. He still lifts people out of pits they thought they would never escape. Through His grace, He continues turning painful chapters into powerful reminders of His faithfulness.

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your amazing grace that is more than enough for every weakness, struggle, and difficult season we face. Thank You that Your power is made perfect in our weakness and that You never leave us to rely on our own ability. Thank You for loving us, strengthening us, restoring us, and carrying us through every challenge we encounter.
Thank You that You are still healing wounded hearts, renewing minds, restoring lives, and turning what the enemy meant for harm into something that brings You glory. Thank You that Your grace reaches into the deepest places of our lives and accomplishes what we could never accomplish on our own.
We thank You that our identity is not found in our failures, limitations, or past mistakes, but in who You say we are. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient, Your promises are true, and Your faithfulness never fails. Thank You for the work You are doing in us, through us, and around us, even when we cannot yet see the full picture.
May our lives reflect Your goodness, our testimony point others toward You, and our hearts remain fully dependent upon Your Spirit. All glory, honor, and praise belong to You.
